Come to Carazo, Nicaragua - a diverse area on the Pacific Coast
Get to know the Carazo region on the Pacific side of Nicaragua Carazo. It's very pleasant and diverse climate offer one of the most attractive regions of Nicaragua.
The origin of its people, synonymous with the “Gueguense”, owes its reputation as part of the patrimony of humanity promoted recently by UNESCO.
This region is vibrant in colors and very diverse, from the higher grounds (600 meters above sea level) of the “meseta” which includes part of the white villages (Pueblos blancos) of Masatepe, San Marcos, Jinotepe and Diriamba. All are known for their beautiful coffee plantations and farms.
Santa Teresa and the Conquista are located further west.
The Pacific Ocean refugees, uncommercial and little known resorts of La Boquita, Casares, Huehuete, Tupilapa and Chacocente are worth a visit when you come to Nicaragua.
The most ambitious touristic project is Seaside Mariana, north of La Boquita beach.

Diriamba
The founding of Diriambe occurred in the 16th cnetury The city name comes from the famous indigenous leader Diriangen, a warrior who fought against the Spanish colonization.
This is one of the symbolic cities of traditional Nicaraguan culture which is known for its colorful and ancestral dances of the Gueguense. The oral and spiritual patimony of humanity, as well as the cradle of its patron, Saint Sebastian, is the cornerstone of one of the most popular festivals in Nicaragua.
San Marcos
Part of the coffee triangle is a picturesque town in the meseta (plateau) of the people and is 552 meters above sea level. It is one of the most peaceful places in Nicaragua.
It used to have coffee as its principal economic activity. Now it is known for one of the most prestigious universities of Nicaragua.
Ave Maria University, in San Marcos, is the only U.S. accredited university in Central America. Americans and Nicaraguans living within the city add to the dynamics of the city and the local farm communities.
Santa Teresa and La Conquista
These municipalities are known for their agriculture and characterized by offering visitors the warm hospitality of its people.

Chacocente
The Rio Escalante Wildlife Refuge Chacocente is one of the two unique places in the Pacific Coast of Nicaragua that has four species of turtles that nest in the parks.
Among which are the Lepidochelys Olivacea (paslama) and Dermochelys Coriacea (tora), which is definitely a natural event to experience, with egg laying occurring between July to January.
There you experience the arrival of the turtles by the thousands, and the joy of seeing the new-born young ones making their way back to the sea.

Diriamba

Part of the coffee triangle is a picturesque town in the meseta (plateau) of the people and is 552 meters above sea level. It is one of the most peaceful places in Nicaragua.
It used to have coffee as its principal economic activity. Now it is known for one of the most prestigious universities of Nicaragua.
Ave Maria University, in San Marcos, is the only U.S. accredited university in Central America. Americans and Nicaraguans living within the city add to the dynamics of the city and the local farm communities.

Chacocente
The Rio Escalante Wildlife Refuge Chacocente is one of the two unique places in the Pacific Coast of Nicaragua that has four species of turtles that nest in the parks.
Among which are the Lepidochelys Olivacea (paslama) and Dermochelys Coriacea (tora), which is definitely a natural event to experience, with egg laying occurring between July to January.
There you experience the arrival of the turtles by the thousands, and the joy of seeing the new-born young ones making their way back to the sea.
Beaches of Carazo
